MOSCOW / KYIV  Ukraine has launched one of its most significant long-range drone attacks of the war, striking a major oil refinery in Moscow and causing disruptions across the Russian capital.

According to Russian officials, the attack triggered explosions and fires at the refinery, while flight operations at several Moscow airports were temporarily affected. The strike marks the second reported attack on the facility in recent days and highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to target strategic infrastructure deep inside Russian territory.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the operation was a response to continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, warning that Moscow would continue to face consequences if strikes against Ukraine persist.

The escalation comes after recent Russian missile and drone attacks caused significant damage in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. Both sides have intensified long-range operations, raising concerns about further escalation in the conflict.

Military analysts say the latest attack demonstrates Ukraine’s expanding drone capabilities and its strategy of targeting energy infrastructure that supports Russia’s war effort.

As the conflict enters another critical phase, international leaders continue to discuss military support, sanctions, and diplomatic options aimed at ending the war.
